    Touch up paint for RT188

Anyone have any experience with getting and using touch up paint on a RT188. I have 2 spots on the port gunnel that were scratched by a cover down to the aluminum. Would I need to go to a dealer and order matching paint from Ranger? Any suggestions appreciated.

    What color?
I got some after-market TU for my charcoal metallic from amazon, based on a recommendation from BBC, and it is a pretty close match...

Same deal, Skeeterbait suggested some Chrysler white color and I ordered some for my white RT. Matched up as good as you're going to get.

Next time you have the boat hooked up behind the truck stop in at a auto parts store and match the color to an automotive touch up color. Dupli-color makes a product called Scratch-a-fix all in one. That's what I use on mine.

Call Ranger, give them the SN of your boat and VOILA. Correct color. Easy to brush on.

Hey, just curious, what did they soak you for that and does it include the clear coat applicator?

I paid $20 for a half ounce bottle through ranger and no clear coat applicator. I could see maybe $8 for that amount but not $20 what a rip off.

Darn, that is rich. I also need some silver touch up paint but am thinking of buying a selection of similar auto colors and seeing what works best. But then I'd probably end up spending more than $20.

I have used it permanent black marker to cover some dock bolt marks and scratches, not perfect but looks better than bare aluminum. I use my 198P in some of the thickest, nastiest areas, that's one of the reasons I got a tin boat. I would be sick to my stomach if I had the same battle scars on my glass boat.

Believe it or not HD can match any color you need. Take a sample of what color you need mixed and ask for a sample amount ($8) in an exterior paint. Scratches are best done using the torn off section of a book match. Been doing this for years.

PRICEY from Ranger I bet. I got a perfect match from NAPA. They matched my boat as I stopped on the way home and they had some kind of electronics thingy and it gave them a code to put in their paint machine. Cost 12$ fora bottle with brush.

I ordered a nail polish sized bottle from ranger about 4 years ago and it was around $40. Factor in inflation and im sure its higher now.
