Marine Master Trailer spindle nut welded on

Need some help on this one. Previous owner failed to mention this when I bought the boat and trailer, among other things. Found this spindle nut to be welded on. What are my options here? It is a Marine Master Trailer hauls a 2013 Phoenix 721 ProXP. There is repairs that need to be done for sure. New brakes installed.....missing when purchased. Tongue is rusted up also, no brake lines. I'm thinking it all got ripped off when the previous owner lost a wheel. Is it better to try and replace everything or buy a new trailer? Springs are pretty worn also.

damn, I've never even thought about welding one of those on. I'd laugh but I don't want to be insulting, sorry.

I'd say a new spindle, or axle, to go with the new springs

I would say at minimum an axle and springs. But after seeing that and reading your comments I would say at least 2 axles, springs, shackles, equalizers, calipers and possibly brake lines. Price all of that then either look for a used trailer which is not easy to find or new. Starting with Marine Master then others.

Have you checked to see if any other nuts are welded on? Or calipers screwed up?

I'd get a quote from a trailer shop to build you one then price out rebuilding the whole thing you got.
Chances are though if it's in that rough shape there's probably rust all through it and it'll start falling apart

Is there any way to get an insurance claim on it, then opt for a new trailer?

There is only one that is welded on. There is no brakes at all. Calipers, brake lines all gone. I’ll have to install new ones. Thanks for the input everyone. I’ll price out everything to repair or buy a new trailer.

What kind of wizard would weld an axle nut on. Holy crap. Talk about being stuck on the side of the road.

You can contact Marine master with the VIN#. They should have the info on your trailer and can set you up with you need. Even a new trailer.

Based on this I can only imagine what else is wrong with this trailer. A used or new trailer is probably the best option unless you have a local trailer shop that can look it over and believes it’s structurally in good shape and fixing it is worthwhile.

I'd be questioning everything about that purchase if it was mine. Best of luck to you.

I'd call marine master and ask if they have any used stock. Sometimes they do.

    Right.
I guess a castle nut and a cotter pin was out of the question.
