    Question Muzzleloader breech plug spec

I have an old knight wolverine 209 muzzleloader that takes breech plug #M900021 https://www.knightrifles.com/product...r-breech-plug/

I would like to know what the flash hole or fire chanel (tiny hole in the center for ignition) diameter is for this plug?

I contacted Knight rifles and of course they were no help, by I did find out that the breech plugs they sell are made by a company called Lehigh Bullets. I tried to contact them by phone and all I get is voicemail. Does anyone know what this tiny hole diameter is? The hole is plugged and no matter what I use to clean it, it is still obstructed. I did buy an new plug....but I want to salvage this one as a spare.

I may be missing something here, but can you not check the new breech plug for the diameter?

Try soaking it in a jar of Hoppes #9 overnight. That should break up the fouling enough to clean it out. Otherwise, drilling it with a 1/16" drill shouldn't hurt anything.

I would try some Croil it may be the best ever product for dissolving rust and corrosion. Take your new plug to a mechanic with a letter bit drill set or a jet drill set and compare.

I see your point, but don't really have a way to measure it.

I've had it soaking with Croil for a month, still won't clear. I'm pretty sure I need to drill it out

Sounds like you're describing the nipple...

...rather than the breech plug itself...

They're separate parts. Simple & cheap fix is to get a new nipple. I went with a Red Hot model (still use #11 caps)...

You can get one of your choice on Knight's website, here...

    https://www.knightrifles.com/product...oader-nipples/

Sorry... Looked again and that's a completely different setup (full plastic jacket system) than on my BK 92 Black Knight. The fire channel through my breech plug is much larger than on the one you listed. With the Red Hot nipple, I've never had a FTF or hangfire... always instantaneous ignition.
