Only caught one Tuesday, I think it was worth it! Was sitting on the top of a ledge. Crankbait.

I grew up south of Highland, in New Baden. I've driven over Silver lake dozens of times and never fished it. Do you have to be a resident to fish there?

To to walk the banks and fish? No, that's welcome to anyone. Theirs 5 bodies of water to fish. The big lake (500acres), old lake (25acres), bargetzi lake (1acres but deep), and a mud pit (1acres). And now a fifth one on iberg Rd, Rinderer park (1-2acre). That one's only 1-2 years old.
To put a boat on the big lake, or old lake, you need a permit. Can get permits from city hall, or 24/7 at the pd. Fee varies on how far from town you live and the HP of your boat. 50hp limit, big lake. It's a tiered fee, best to check parks and recreation site.

You can also put non-motorized craft on the old city lake.
