The local news covered our biggest tournament of the year over the weekend. The guys had a 4.39 largemouth (that ended up claiming big bass) in a primarily smallmouth tournament. They had enough to be 3rd or 4th until their 5th fish made a run for it. The ended up getting 9th. The news camera caught it all on film. Check out the video.

I never have the lid open much cause they will tuna out of there real fast. Lesson learned the hard way.

I've dropped a fish and had it flop overboard on the way to weigh in, never had one go full out jumping like that though.

They will do it. I had one fly out and hit me in the eye one time, luckily he didn't get over the side but my eye looked like I got socked.

That was Jim Bitter. As per video that is why I always drain down my livewells if doing an on the water weighin!

I noticed they had full livewells too. I also use cull tags in the bag and take them off at the bump tank. I had a co angler drop a 3.25# overboard with the cull tag still in its mouth last year. I laughed because I thought he was kidding.
These are good dudes I really feel for them.

Easy to prevent. 1) cull tag the fish so you can grab them. 2) always always always pump the water out before bagging fish! 3) partner holds bag tightly shut between fish, and just barley opens to let fish in!
