2007 199 Alpha
2007 Mercury Optimax 225
25 tempest plus

Trim tabs
water pressure 23
10" Jack plate
4.5 below pad and trim tabs to 64.
3.5 below pad and trim tabs to 68 loaded with partner 70 light load.

Tried a 26, 27 tempest plus, 24, 25, fury and 26 trophy and the 25 tempest straight out ot the box was the best.

Re: Legend Setups... (cypress legend)

I either need to unload some of my tackle shop from the 211 or Change props..
I swapped from a 26 Fury last season to a 25 Fury this season.. Love the Holeshot improvement and handling.. However best I can typically run tourney Load w/ 2 guys is 69 ish... If I really work it I can get the 70 to 70.5mph.. Running around 5600 to 5750 on average..

This is a SCX with 36v MK TM and Dual Power Poles..

I have seen 72+ when empty and by myself.. Would like to run that normally loaded..

I really like the 26 txp gots lots of lift and has been a little faster on my boat than my trophy.

07 le-21, 300xs, 26 fury, 10 hyd jackplate usually at 3 1/4 below pad, full gas and tackle running 6050 rpm @ 78mph..Any other ideas on a prop that might get me to 80 without sacrificing too much hole-shot? thanks

New Legend owner here. Still playing with setup and prop selection. I don't seem to be getting the same numbers as the rest of you guys but I am working on it. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Re: Legend Setups... (bassman30549)

bassman, your altitude is quite high. From the little that I know, this will affect your speed (as will high humidity). I get virtually the same numbers as you in my 09 - 211. Fury 26p 74.5mph half full of gas, full tackle, 1 person, 5700rpm +/- 300ft.

btsmbass is kind of the guru with this stuff. I'm sure he can shed more light on it, but from all the info I've seen most(not all) of the guys who are running 75+ are at lower elevations.

Re: Legend Setups... (Cpt. Morgan)

Have you tried a trophy on your boat? The trophy I ran had a better feel to it than the Fury but I know it is not enough pitch. I was thinking a 26 or 27 trophy.

I also run a 26p worked trophy. When set properly I get 74 out of it. Actually love that prop cause the boat handles like its on rails.

Re: Legend Setups... (Cpt. Morgan)

Yeah thats what I noticed too. The boat just seems more stable. With the Fury to get the speed I had to trim it up pretty far, it never wanted to walk unless I hit some waves ( we have a lot of weekend nuts that like to plow the lake up here). I have not tried a trophy with two in the boat but I was thiking it would have less speed drop off than the Fury and might even be faster with a load.

Re: Legend Setups... (jturrentine)

jturrentine,

I had a 10" hyd detwiller for about a yr and switched to a 8" bobs hyd plate on my LE-21 300 hpdi. We purchased our boat from C&O marine and Todd (speed freak) that worked there said the 8" Bob's would perform better and it does for sure. I can touch 80 tourny loaded and scare the sh*t out of someone (still smooth) with a half tank of gas with a little bit of chop. Also running a 27 hpdi prop and hole shot is great.

Re: Legend Setups... (ccau)

2010 211 with 250 ProXS
26p Fury

I've hit 75mph gps in cool weather with a skeg protector that I've since removed. Last week in 100+ degree air and 90+ water it seemed like this prop was too much to turn in the extreme heat. Had motor checked and everything was good. Anyone else had trouble turning a Fury 26p in extreme heat? I would stay about 58mph but, when I tried to push it, it felt like it was bogging down... So I didn't. Any suggestions for a 25p summer prop?

Re: Legend Setups... (DRush)

Its been hot and humid up here too and I've had no issues turning a 26P Fury. I may not be getting 74-75 in this heat but was running 71-72 in a tournament this Saturday.

Starting to look like fuel system problems. Just have to track it down.

Re: Legend Setups... (DRush)

My problem was with the fuel line. If you have the grey line with orange/red print you might want to look at changing it. Two 2010 models I know of have had this problem and if you look in the Mercury section it appears to be a common problem with the lining separating in these lines. Cost me a good chunk that I didn't need to spend trying to track it down. BTW I've always used ethanol treatment.

Re: Legend Setups... (Kody Bradbury)

2011 Alpha 211
2011 250 Pro XS
10" Atlas hydraulic plate
26p Fury
Air temp 91 and water temp 85.

Lite load, plate up on 5 and trim at 5 76.5 mph gps and there was more there to be had. With a lite load, the hole shot is excellent as well.

The Fury shines with lite loads, but start adding a passenger or lots of tackle and the speed drops off dramatically and the hole shot is terrible. I am going with a hydromotive 4 blade soon as possible.

Re: Legend Setups... (EAH)

I just got this boat and its a runnin SOB!!

2007 Legend LE21
2007 Merc 250XS
10" HyrdoDynamics
27' Tempest Plus B&B'd

Water Temp: 89
Air temp" 103
5700 RMP = 74.1mph

Half tank of gas, by myself, and full livewells. Hole shot is unreal. There is 1 plug not in, and I think I need to go ahead and plug it, as having it out is suppose to improve hole shot right?

Hey Tamale sorry for the post on TFF about the trolling motor. I know that usually most replies you get these days seem to have some kind of spin depending on who's sponsoring who. SOOOOO I just wanted to give you a completely unbiased opinion about the trolling motor & the problem you were having. I went through the same thing years ago...I was having MG withdrawals LOL but a great guy in our club helped me through them & I have never looked back. I was forever a MG guy but my MK Fortrex is ABSOLUTELY the best TM I've EVER owned.

I wish you all the luck in the world in your search on TFF & God Bless.
