Well at the Classic I did the following:
'08 Alpha 211/ Merc 250 ProXS
78 @ 6000
27 tempest
3.25" below pad
40 deg air temp
51 deg water temp
light breeze and a little chop.
Ran 77 all day out east, came back to Austin and could only get 75 out of her, go figure, and the rpms weren't too far from what I was running out east, so I'm blaming it on the nasty hard water. My boat always runs better on East TX lakes too.

1995 CHAMPION 171 DC
'09 Alpha 211
250 ProXS
Hydraulic Jackplate
Prop 1: 26 Trophy Plus Stock
5700 RPM
72 MPH
Two guys, heavy tourny load, full wells and full tank
Notes: Jackplate and trim seem to be very important on speed and RPM. You could easily turn 6000+ but didn't gain speed. Probably due to slip caused by overtrimming and jackplate too high. Adjusted plate and trim and found out the above to be optimal.
Prop 2: 27 Tempest Plus worked at DAH Custom Props
5800 RPM
75 MPH
Two guys, hvy tourny load, 1/2 tank of fuel, empty wells
Notes: Again, the plate and trim were very important. Over trimming and plate too high caused more RPM's and slower speeds. Still respectable for a 3 blade. Great holeshot for the Tempest too. Prop was cut for speed and some lift.
Planning on trying a 28 Tempest, 27 Trophy II this weekend. Will report..
I to have perty mush the same set-up, A-211, M 250 running a 26 Tempest, dual counsel, 4 batteries? After break in got, 72mph fully load with two and live wells full. Ran 55 minutes one way before I shut it down. (Weighted in 18lbs.)
Last week playing around raised the jack plate and got 75 load, full tank and live wells full. 5800 rpm, psi 26. But this was on a lake that had a lot of turns. Going to raise again and will be out on the water Monday-Thrusday, KY Lake.
We tried a prop that makes a Bullit run but couldn't get a hole shot nor did it make much different on top end. Still looking for a better prop? John at Marina Works,KY is work to get the extra MPH if possible.
The boat runs good in rough water and like another post it will turn heads.
These all seem like pretty respectable numbers. To me it seems as though the Legends will be a mph or two faster than the Rangers and Champs. That has always been my understanding anyways.
For you guys posting these numbers, how do you personally stack up against the Rangers and Champs when you're out running or in a tournament? I know responses to this will be more hear say rather than facts but, just interested to see if there is a certain boat that can pull away from you in these 21 footers or not.
I'm going to check one out this weekend and would just feel better knowing these are real good, strong running boats.
Another assumption would be is that the Legend is in the same speed class as the Stratos and Triton? Correct me if I'm wrong.
2007 LE-21 DC
225 Optimax
25 Tempist Plus
Purchased used and took out for the first time.
Had 56 gallons of gas and two people. Boat screamed out the hole, but ran flat!
Turned up 5300 RPM, ran 66 mph.
Want to play with the jack plat, and was reading some of the post and was curious what is meant when saying height "below the pad? Does this mean the nose of the foot is so many inches below the pad of the boat?
I will be trying a 26 fury this week, I hear give a lot of lift!
Well new boat, but same set-up:
2010 A-211 w/250 ProXS
76.4 @ 5850
26 Fury (a really good stock one, that is very rare)
3.75" below pad
73* water temp
89* air temp
75% humidity
480 ft msl
By myself with 100lbs of crap (some call it fishing equipment) and approx 35 gallons of fuel plus incidentals. Fury still wants to walk more than worked 27p tempest. Worked tempest is identical in stated condition, but 1-.5 mph slower fully loaded. This setup seems standard.
I do want to thank Lee and the rest of the chopper crew for building a boat faster than near and dear close friends Brian Booker an Robby Crabb.
My T-load numbers are as follows:
73.4 (pretty consistently) @ 5750
26 Fury (runnin' hot!)
3.75" below pad
80* water temp (hard water containing high levels of metals to include but not restricted to Ca+,Fe+)
75% humidity
645 ft msl
load includes two guys and tackle (550 lbs) plus 40 gals of fuel and incidentals.
Can't wait till winter!

Brad Ritchie
2009 Alpha 211 250 Pro XS

27p Tempest 72mph @5600 rpm no chime

I have about 5 hours on the motor and it was time to run some long WOT to see top speed.
I need some help on set-up, I have not checked mor hieght, but I am getting 15-20PSI at WOT, I have a 225 Opti on an ALPHA 199, and I keep hitting the overrev beep at 5750+Rpms and going 67-68 with medium load. I have a 25P FURY and my rooster tail was about the hieght of the motor.
I was thinking maybe a 26P Fury or maybe some more cupping? There is a alot of speed left, and I can get to almost 5900 RPMS.

Try a Bravo 1, say around 27 -28p. Thats where I would start.
The Bravo may hold better with higher X dimensions, but that 25p fury is the prop for that setup if you are lower elevation without many 100* days and high humidity.
It sounds like you need to drop your motor a tad. If you keep dropping your motor and see no increase in speed, or decrease in rpms. Get a new prop, that one is a dog. The fury does need to be trimmed with a finesse approach. Once the fury loses any bite at all, start over.
If you do carry a load that equals the BPS fishing dept. a trophy may be your best bet.
At 5750 you should see 71-73 mph, in reality you should be at 5500 at 70 mph with a tourney load with that prop. I wouldn't expect much more than about 71 and change in perfect conditions with a tourney load.

I was in my second Aplha 211DCX until last week.Sold it...Had a 2009 and then 2010..Sold them both and about to get a 2011 on order. I saw 76.9 w/250 Pro XS, 10" plate, shaft 4.5 inch below pad, 1/2 tank fuel, no live well water and my skinny self (180#'s) and not a lot of gear. 27 Fury.. With a bit more load>> 75 to 76...Super smooth ride. Factory wiring job second to none. Fishability>>second to none.
Got the 2010 Legend Alpha 199 with a stock 225 Mercury Optimax (non-ProXS) and 25 Fury to 73 mph. That is smoking with a regular 225, light load.
