I ran a VL475 from 1986 until 1996. 17.5' Kevlar hull with a Mariner 150 jack plate 24 prop. Motor Guide 24v tm. Hit 70 on slick water. Didn't handle big water well but was fast and fun. I used it as a Lake Okeechobee guide boat until I got a 20' HydraSports DV220. Earl Bentz was running HS back in mid 80s and then he started Stratos

Nice I have a LS 205, with a 225 Johnson HO on the back, 1998 loaded with everything. 10 inch jack plate, and hydraulic steering.

    my sweet ride

boat2020.jpgboat20201.jpgboat20202.jpgboat20203.jpg1990 18FT. DVTSX,Purchased new with a JohnsonGT175,This motor served me quite well in the 30yrs. I have owned it. All things have to pass I decided to upgrade this fall,Made the decision, pulled the trigger on a new Mercury 175ProSX.Picked it up Thursday from my dealer in GA.In the water at High Rock lake Friday...The new motor is very impressive,,It will run rite on by the old Johnson even when it was new,Holeshot, was my main concern,,,holeshot is awsome

I had the same boat back in the day. It was a beast - wish I hadn't sold it....

Big deal for the 475 was very low weight due to use of kevlar mat in the hull. I don't think there were many of them made. For it's size they were incredibly light, so speeds were up there. I had a 150 mariner that had been worked on, and it flew. Not sure how fast it was but I never got passed until I started running with the Bullet and Norris Craft crews. They were a different league. Keep the transom solid and you have a fantastic boat.
