Aahhh What prop? Sounds like a 25p or 26p. What engine too?
It is a yamaha 225 sho with a 25 t1 sho prop. The boat will only run 67.5 mph
How high are you trimming the engine while on plane?
Sounds like the engine may be too low. I have the same boat with the same prop and I am hitting 6100 at 73 mph. These new zx boats like to run the engine high. The sweet spot seems to be around 2 1/4 for me. I have a 26 t1 ordered to see if it will turn it.

What is your load stats? Fuel gear people etc... I have even seen the heat kill numbers too. You wont be the first person that i know who has had a tach problem if that is it.
1-3/4" or 7 dots showing with a 25t1 should get you over 70mph.
I will give the height a,try I think it is at 6 dots now. I have two power poles an I don't carry that much tackle. With the boat empty an half a tank of fuel it an just me it will turn 5600 at 70
With that weight you should be well over 6K rpms. Raise that motor until you get there. I will agree that the boat is loose when the prop is deep, but as you raise it, it will get better, and that is also where you will find that happy speed and rpm. I believe that weight load and distribution have a great effect on this platform.
I would check the Hot Foot first. It sounds like you're not getting full throttle. You should be running 70mph at 5600rpms, but that should not be WOT. You should have plenty of pedal left at 70mph.
Gitcha Bass On!
2015 ZX225
What is there to check on the hot foot? I have similar issue?
Depress pedal on hot foot and have someone check throttle position on motor to see if it's opening up throttle all the way. Will take 2 ppl. There is an adjustment of hotfoot for throttle stop position.

Thanks Kerry didnt know that
I have moved jackplate up an down with no increase the dealership thinks it is because of hot water. They want to change out ecm an see if that helps. Will keep yall posted
Have dealer verify correct position of timing sensor.
I have moved the motor to third hole an jackplate at 7 dots an made sure that it was hitting wot when hot foot is depressed. After running the boat will now run 5200 rpm an 64 mph
Did you ever get this issue resolved? I’m dealing with the same thing with the same year and model boat.
This is very old thread, but I'll add on mine I get right at 65 at 5800 RPM, 2016 ZX225, 25T1 worked by Croxton, 9 dots. 600-ish hours, but less than 50 on a rebuilt powerhead. But I do have to trim what I consider too high to get there, throwing a rooster tail higher than the motor. Normally at 32% trim (which is where the tilt part would kick in on land) I see about 5500 and low 60's. But, I have lots of tackle and heavy in the ass, two poles, so that probably factors in.
I do notice it seems like the last 20-30% of the hot foot range does nothing... not sure if normal, have been meaning to take a look at throttle on motor but as already stated above takes two people.
