2003 TR186 access to fuel tank

Was doing some investigative work this weekend and pulled the deck seat area to access the fuel tank, very easy and would recomend this over the little access port. I was more than half way there because I remove the seats when the boat goes in for winter storage. 10 screws and the whole section comes off.

I inspected the fuel line supply which was gummy on the outside and partially colapsed, this will be changed this week with the proper fuel line. the fill and vent line look to be fine except the peice of carpet that is suppose to protect the fill pipe from rubbing and vibration.

moved the carpet so it's between the fuel fill line and the fiberglass

checked the tank for the so called permeating tank syndrome, not here

started to clean the tank because I'm crazy like that.

used a mild detergent and lots of water. I also moved the peices of rubber under the tank hold downs. What I noticed most of all when cleaning the tank and slightly depressing the plastic you can hear the displacement of air and fumes at the gas cap. I'll update the post later with the fuel line change but were suppose to get -7 and -8 degress C over the next couple of days with some snow

Thinking my 2007 TR186 would probably be the same. This is great info to have handy. Thanks for posting this.

How did you remove the seats?

Sorry didn't see your question until now, little late I guess. There are three screws at the front of each seat along the bottom, there is one screw hidden in the material at the top of the middle insert of the back rest, you will see a hole, find the screw head and remove. pull the insert out and there will be a larger screw holding the backrest to the backrest portion of the deck. the seat is hung on the deck backrest with a hook like device, you must pill it straight up, you can wiggle it loose, side to side, then pul straight up, the first time will be tough. I take them out every year to clean. I remove the seats for winter storage.

2004 and up, the only way to access the fuel tank is to remove the entire top cap of the boat. What genius thought of that?

If your 2007 TR186 is like the 2005s the only way to get to the tank is pull the whole top cap off.
