I did a similar thing with mine as well. Took out the seat and added the hatch covered with marine carpet and a handle.

BTO. What kind if paint did you use? And how dies it stand up to weather and traffic?

I redid my extended deck and cannot find carpet to even come close to my factory carpet.
Was thinking maybe painting the plywood? Or trying to think of any other ideas for the flooring?

Its VHT wrinkle plus engine paint. I get it at NAPA. Not cheap its $10 a can with my discount I get there but it seems super tough after it cures and hardens. I walked on it some today at the lake and its secure. Time will tell on durability but plain paint lasted 3 years so this shoukd be just as good if not better. I made this out of plywood. Lots and lots of primer it will soak it up but it finishes really nice if you take the time to seal it up.

Great Scott (Larry) sent me these pics of a boat mod that is pretty cool and I may do this on my boat. His pics are pretty good. He did a step modification for between his seats and a step up to his deck on his TV18. He had these made by a sheetmetal shop and I don't think it will be to expensive to have done.

Man, those are some great mods.

Rocket man, what did you use for the rails under your seat to raise it? is that just an aluminum bar? Been trying to figure out how to raise mine too.

I decided I really wanted a seat in the middle for my occasional extra friend or little person somewhere in my first trip or two I learned that the original "step" seat wasn't made for a big fella like myself and it was my first casualty ...so I used a step back from bassboatseats.com, they make great seats and their step back is made of a hard plastic frame not wood and folds flat like others brands make...it fit perfect on stock bracket

They only carry charcoal and red...they are both really close too original colors...I also saved the bottom of the original so it looks really nice still 80% of the time when its folded down...turned out ok and I'm not worried about style points so the mismatch doesn't bug me like I thought it would

image.jpgimage.jpg This is the original bottom to the center seat. With quarter inch plexiglass screwed on top countersunk screws. In a 3/16 inch nonskid black shop mat. The mat is put on with epoxy. This set up makes a feel of a natural step down.

Thanks! Only thing is you have to totally tear the seat up to make it. Unless you buy an old seat to make it. I know I will not sale this boat, so I didn't care. (It's for my grandsons in the future) its simple but very functional.
