Big Hollow (new lake near Mediapolis) Pics

Here's some pics from the new lake by Mediapolis. They've started filling it in now. I'm guessing it's got probably another 15 to 20 feet to go before it's filled in.

    The boat ramp

    The "bottom" of the beach

Some rip rap showing where the shoreline will end up being.

Lake should have TONS of cover for years to come

Fishing jetty, good to know about that little ledge on the jettys too

And of course the road bed

and good to know where all these are located too

and somewhere beyond that is the dam, will have to make it back out there and figure out the rest of the lake. I think I've seen probably 2/3 of it so far. Can't wait for about 2 or 3 years to pass, should be a good fishery!!!

I think I'm gonna like it! Tons of cover! Kinda like Belva Deer. In a couple three years I'm going to be hitting that a lot!

How many surace acres do you think it will be? I saw more cover in your pics than all the lakes in N.E. IA

    Re: Big Hollow (Hawkeye)

I've been trying to find someone with info about it, without any luck. Last I heard was something in the mid 200 acre range. I'll keep asking around and see if I can find anything out.

No, I don't have a GPS. But I've got a lot of pics that show me where all those cement pilings and stuff like that are in relation to some landmarks. The neat thing was the fishing jettys. Never realized they had an underwater ledge. That'll be good to know. Got some pics of some really nice rock points too. They did a good job. Was wondering if that lake was ever going to take shape or not. Was put on hold last year. Back in business now though!
