My social secretary has us planned to go up there this week end. How many of you have fished it? Do I look for the usual summer time pattern? Right now my only plan is top-water in the morning. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, guys.

stay in the boat lanes ! and a carolina rig under the bridges is usally good for a couple.
Fished Gills Ferry area of D'Arbonne this afternoon.
1st fish was 5 or 6 lbs that I had on a black buzz bait in about 5 feet of water, got him right to the boat & he got off. Got a real good look at him & was sick for the next few hours.
Picked up 3 more on a white buzz bait with trailer hook. Not real big but big enough to fillet. Had about 4 or 5 that hit but didn't take the bait.
Threw a fluke in some heavy grass & lilly pads but did not get a strike. Also threw a spinnerbait but did not get a strike.
I also like to fish an area called "Hog Pen."
What's the Gill's Ferry area? We've got a camp on D'arbonne and I've been fishing there my whole life but I've never heard of that?? Nor the 'hog pen'...share the knowledge!

Thanks, guys! I'll try to put that knowledge to good use.

Do you happen to have a map of the lake? They are both on there.
Gills Ferry is located off Highway 33 (Farmerville Hwy) about nine miles or so north of Ruston. You turn off 33 & work your way through the "country" to the ramp. I like going here in the afternoon b/c I can be on the lake & fishing in about 25 minutes.
Hog Pen is located off Highway 2. You drive over the Hwy 2 bridge, go past the entrance to the state park, & turn right onto a road that leads you down to the ramp. The ramp is actually located on a road called Hog Pen Road. The problem with this one is how far it is from Ruston. It usually takes 45 minutes or more for me to get here.

Fishless, but it was still pretty good. Only fished for about 3 hrs. Spent the rest of the time building PVC brushpiles and sinking them getting ready for some crappie while the kids rode the tube/wake board.
Thanks for all your help, guys!!
