I don't believe so. Since Humminbird announced the new VX line of mapping and withdrew the FishSmart App, I don't believe the individual lakes are available for download. If you already have individual lakes on the FishSmart App or your unit, you can continue to use them, but I don't think additional ones can be downloaded. Also, if you have the FishSmart App and loose it, through phone change or accidental deletion, you can't replace it.

The new VX line is definitely purchase by region on the graphs but, you can do a yearly subscription of $24.99 on the new One-Boat Network App and you get the entire VX mapping for the US and Canada on your mobile device. The mapping on your mobile device can't be transferred to the Helix/Solix/Apex... They are totally separate at this point.

Well that is incredibly annoying. I have a long list of lakes for northern wisconsin purchased for two units. Now if I want to get one more lake I have to spend 400$

I agree chart select was great if you didn’t need more than a couple lakes in HD. Nobody else offered that as an option. Without being able to share between your units. (Helix) Gets expensive with multiple units. I only needed one HD lake. It cost $45 per copy, but it was only one lake. The market has changed and HB had to stay competitive. The new features are a nice upgrade as well. JMO Bob

I agree the new features look like a nice upgrade but 400$ for two new chips is crazy when I have and paid for most of the lakes I am interested in fishing. The region I fish is littered with lakes so it would have been nice if they were to continue supporting individual lakes for the HD contours & then move forward [backwards] from individual lakes to regions w/ the new technology

Change is always a pain. With electronics and software these days nothing stays the same for very long. I am old and try not to go along, but not able to very often. Bob

Helix 9 G3N is my unit.
With new LAKEMASTER Premium VX chips, are the MENU options "dynamic"? In other words , if I purchase and insert the new chip will I have more extensive menu options that will then allow me to 'fine tune' the colors? And provide me with more colors?

Yes, if your software is current to run VX maps.

I have a 997 and 957. Am considering getting either Navionics or Lakemaster but have read about several users having issues with Lakemaster. Is this still an issue or has the software for Lakemaster been recoded to work better on the older units such as the 997 & 957?

Navionics will work in those units.

Legacy Lakemaster will work, but not the current VX mapping or legacy Lakemaster Plus or Lakemaster SmartStrike
    Lakemaster is just contours

Sorry I was not clear, I meant which one is better between Lakemaster legacy & Navionics in my western region?

Neither if they don't have the coverage you need. You have to check.

You can view the lake lists for Lakemaster on Humminbird's website.

You can view the actual current-as-of-today contour maps that Navionics has on their website's Chart Viewer.

    Thank you Wayne :)

A quick view of Legacy Shows options for versions 1, 2 & 3 with version 3 having some lakes the previous versions do not offer like Amador and Parde, two lakes that are fairly close to me. Is it always best to go with the highest numbered version? Wondering if the higher numbered version such as Version 3 would be the most recent and up to date? Do all 3 different versions have to purchased separately if they offer different lakes etc?

The highest number is the most recent. Each year there were more waters and HD waters added. Makes no sense to purchase an older version (if you can find one) unless it is almost free and has the coverage you need.
