    Re: Amite/Tickfaw Reports (Hydrasports205)

    Hydrasports205:

I'm launching in Reserve Canal at 2:00pm Friday, plan on hitting the mouth, maybe oilwell canal, and may run over to the mouth of the Amite or Blind River to check it out, if all else fails. Probably will be out Saturday also. I've heard of a new target species to try out if the trout and bass slow down, CATFISH.
I heard of a few people catching up to 80 Cats on crawfish colored tube jigs, but the bass and specks will really have to shut down before I pick around for catfish.

    Re: Amite/Tickfaw Reports (ZL)

ZL, I'm not sure where I'm gonna go yet, but I'm planning on launching around 1. I'm torn between launching into the blind and running out to the lake or launching into either tickfaw or amite near the lake. I guess we'll see......If I get on em I'll give you a holler.

Nope, the water level is killing me, most I've seen is non-stop action for croakers. A friend was catching 4 & 5lb bass near Des Allemand in the grass. Might try for a few of those toads tomorrow.

Sorry for the late report. I caught my fish on night crawlers. I brought the fish home live in my live well to release into my pond and they spitt up shrimp all over the live well.

I went spear fishing and killed a nice limit. The catfishing is slowing down at he mouth of blind river but they were still catching a few here and there. I did not bass fish but talked to a buddy of mine that has been having some luck around the lake edges catching bass.

Went to port vincent this afternoon...real fun trip. Got a speedin ticket, slaughtered the 7" catfish, and lost a few nice bass. Didn't boat a single decent fish, but at least I got my crankbait I lost a few weeks ago out of that cypress tree.

Has anyone fished this area lately ? Fishing this Saturday, 3-3-07, out of Hilltop. Never fished this area before any help would be great. Thanks

    Re: (ybnorml93)

Most of the spots I've got the most confidence in are way up the Amite River, but I've caught some real nice fish at this time of year in Flat Lake and Lake Martin. I'd imagine if anyone's doing any good in there it'll be full of people....

I like fishing the blind river out to the lake too, but I doubt it's recovered from the storm enough to be a real destination.

Are you fishing the tournament that is being help out of Hilltop this Saturday. I'm not sure who is hosting it, but I'll be fishing it with one of my buddies. We'll be in a maroon ranger with a 115 Johnson Faststrike. I hear of some fish being caught in some areas, one friend landed a 5lber the other day. Let me know.
