For flipping jigs I made a 7'3", one piece rod. I used a Rainshadow 7'6" blank and trimmed it down. I Used no foregrip. The blank is a medium heavy flipping blank, but really heavy action by my standards. I flip in the CA Delta a lot, so I like to be able to rip the fish out from behind the tules before they have a chance to wrap me up.
I use a Fenwick 7'6" Legacy Flipn stick with a Quantum Accurist 500 PT filled with 25lb Trilene BIg Game.

I had 2 custom G Loomis flipping rods built for me. One is 7 1/2 foot IMX model in a medium heavy and the other is an 8 foot IMX heavy action. Both are one piece rods and have the feather light handle set up. I use Shimano Chronarch MG's on both and as for line I use anything from 15-25 pound silver thread to 30 pound fire-line depending on the type cover and water clarity. Every one that picks these up say they are the lightest flipping rods they have ever held. Also, I will never have another telescopic flipping rod after having used the one piece rods. They are so much more sensitive its incredible.
For flipping plastics, I use a 7'6 Bass Pro Shops extreme telescopic rod with a matched bass pro extreme reel, with 7 ball bearings and a 6:1.1 retreive speed. I fish this combo with Power Pro braid's 65 pound strenght and 12 pound diameter. I have been using Matzuo 5/0 hooks, but the bigger fish have been straightening the hooks. I am currently experimenting with different hooks. But other than that it has been a solid combo. Especially around lilly pads, hydrilla and other cover. Now when I find the right hooks, I'm sure I'll have a winning combo.

After having the BCFR Loomis I will never ever own another telescopic flipping rod. They are so much more sensitve and so much lighter than a telescopic rod it's not even funny.
