Looking into changing jigs..was a big fan of eakins, just having a hard time keeping them buttoned up with them.
Whats your favorite jig?? ..and finesse jig

I use All Terrain Jigs, or Gambler Ninja jigs. Mainly because when you hook them, they stay hooked! The hook angle on these two are almost identical, and that's critical on jigs of any kind.
Finesse jigs...My pal Howie Lee makes a killer jig. Look on Ebay for Sump'n Sump'n jigs.
I was having the same problem keeping them hooked up on an eakins and started buying bare heads and tying my own skirts - that way I can make what I want. I use bass-x jigheads for a ball head or football. For a fantastic "flippin" head - get BOSS Gary Klein Heavy Cover jig heads. I buy my heads for $1 to $1.50 a piece and the skirt materials run less than $.50. You can't buy pre-made for anywhere close and I enjoy making my own. As many as I lose - they were getting expensive at $3-$5 a piece.
As far as doing a "finesse" cut skirt - just get the jigs you want an take a pair of sissors to the skirt - you can leave on as much material as you want to get the right "flare" around the head - then trim the overall length just below the bend of the hook.
So many of our sponsors have top quality jigs, and you can get them in any color combo you can dream of. Also check out Real Deal custom jigs. Fine jigs!
THe 5/16 oz. Omega jig and the Omega Baby-J are nice finesse jigs..
I switched this year to revenge jigs and have been very pleased with them
My favorite jigs are the ones I make. Save some money, buy in bulk, make your jigs the way YOU want.

Like I said, we have sponsors that make incredible jigs if you don't do your own (like me). Check them out! You can find any style head, color, weight and hook combination that you can dream up. Most hand tie (which I like) and listen to you(the fisherman).
Love me some Powell\'s!!!

I don't remember losing many fish on Jewel Eakins Jigs. I made my own practice baits but fished Jewel on tournament days, there was contingency money involved come to think of it.
I don't think there is a jig that has been made/produced in the last 15-20 years that I haven't fished at least once! I used to be a Eakins guy, then Picasso only guy when they where little known, then went to Revenge then he switched his hook, then went to another, then another...you get the idea. I believe that I have found THE perfect jig...for me. Many board sponsors make them how you want (I like BassTeamTackle !!) As always its a confidence thing but also its an application thing, watch this:
I am currently going to make my own because:
1) I can make what I want/when I want.
2) I've always wanted to...kinda like a therapy thing.
Hope you find 1 you like!

Custom Cast Lures has my vote. They're a locally made product and I haven't lost a fish on hookset yet. I used to use a lot of the big name jigs but switched to these last year and haven't looked back.
