Elite 7 HD issue

Elite 7" HD in the bow, ducer built into the Xi5 trolling motor. When I turn the trolling motor on, the screen has a TON of, I guess interference. Screen is unreadable, many many lines across the screen. Any ideas where to start?

Is your Xi5 have an HDI transducer ?

Ground the lower unit on your TM to its battery.

Ok I'm working on it this week (finally).

So far I've isolated the source voltage from everything else via a separate battery, no change at all.

how does one go about grounding the foot of the TM to it's battery? It's 24v if it matters. Motorguide Xi5 pinpoint.

To test, you can use a clamp around the housing and just let the wire hang there loose while testing. If it works, then you can start thinking how to make it look good. :)
