Bank lights for night fishing? But not permanent in rub rail.

Just want to set the thing on the front deck pointed at the bank while trolling along, seeing brush and such. Something like a big wide flashlight on a heavy base. Anybody do this? Does it help or does it ruin night vision everywhere else. What is the best color? I think the rub rail lights look cool, but really don't want to mess with mine. i have never even been on a boat with the rail lights installed so just fill me in. Do they work? I have enough wires in my boat.

Seems like if I hear they work good I may just build my own using the rub rail lights mounted on something removable.

Moonlites are fabulous. They will light up your fluorescent line with black light, and green for the bank. They aren't cheap, but worth every penny.

X2 on the moonlites. I have two of them, the full moons. They come with suction cups on bottom and I put one on my gunnel between the console and trolling motor and one between console and back of boat. Lights up line and bank amazing. They have a normal plug in and have held up well. I’d highly recommend.

The black light will help you see your line but is not great at giving you bank visibility. A decent head lamp with a green light will always project the light where you want to see

As others have said, Moonlites are definitely the way to go.

I got 2 of those BOS rechargeable lights mounted on a piece 4x4 block of wood... just incase I drop them overboard... they will float enough to pick back up
