    Active target 2 no source

I experienced the no source issue ice fishing this weekend. Everything is updated and power is good.

I'm seeing a few people suggest that the cause of this could be the blue ping sync wire not being terminated. Lowrance says the blue wire only needs to be used in multiple transducer configurations.

Just seems odd to me but figured I'd see if anybody here has heard of something like that.

what update do you have on your MFD and AT2 module anything less than 23.3 and you will have issues.

Part of the reason I ask. Is I'm using the Explorer ice pack. It comes with a "custom" (lowrances term) wiring harness. Somebody is suggesting this cable was designed for the AT1 system and not AT2 and that all the no source issues on AT2 are due to the blue ping wire being non terminated. 20250128_170439.jpg

There is a huge difference between no source and no power which is it? Not that I don't believe you on the softwere version but I have seem way to many times where the owner and the person doing the updates do know what they are doing so humor me and verify update on both items there will be 2 updates one for the module and 1 for the MFD. Then we can eliminate it There has be zero no source issues since the last update so if your no source is no power than we are taking about something else than software. Please clarify.

It is not no power. It's no source. Somebody is suggesting it's due to the power cord I'm using which lowrance sells with the Explorer pack. They are also suggesting in general the no source issue is due to the blue wire.

    My updates are as follows.

    HDS live 9 23.3—67.3.33
    AT2 23.3—67.3.36

Thanks for the data. The blue wire is only used for ping sync and that is only used on dual AT2 nothing to do with power But the yellow wire has everything to do with power on the module are all the lights on the module with No Source? Your unit runs ok, just not the AT2? So 2 things to check Wht is the source set to in data source? and is the AT2 turned on in Advanced Settings on the HDS Live?

I have hds live 9. Unit runs fine. No source pops up and the lights are all correct on the AT2 module when it happens.

Wierd to see another no source since I haven’t seen one in awhile. I’ve been hesitant to post about mine lately. I’m running a carbon 12 with all software up to date on both the unit and AT2 box. Mine doesn’t happen every time out but occasionally it does. I look at my box when it happens and all lights are flashing and the correct color they should be. I usually stop sonar everytime I pull the trolling motor. This last weekend I didn’t stop sonar all day and never had it lose source. I’m thinking Mayb a Ethernet cable but still not sure. Not trying to hijack your post just wanted to put out that it’s still happening occasionally.

A guy on Facebook who claims to be a retired electrical engineer/hardware & Software developer and now a part time installer at a BPS said that they discovered they could eliminate the issue by terminating the blue wire. He said they join the AT2 blue and yellow wire to the yellow wire of the MDF or whatever switch they are using and it has eliminated the problem.

I have also seen some suggest the issue does not happen with HDS PRO units and is only happening with Live and Carbon units. Not sure that I believe that. Not sure I believe the blue wire is the issue either. Feels like at this point lowrance would have figured that out also.

Did you ever have an AT1 hooked up to your Pro? If so your Pro is expecting to find the AT1 previously connected and will not see the AT2 source; if so you need to hit Restore Defaults in the Sonar settings menu and that will fix the issue.

I have an HDS Live and never had AT1 connected to it.

You should probably do the Restore Defaults anyhow. Won’t hurt and might cure the issue.

I have found that if you exit out to a different application say 2d sonar and then back to AT 99%
it is found and back in the game.

My AT2 started to display no source and after a call with Lowrance they recommended replacing the Ethernet cable which solved the dreaded problem. Haven’t had an issue since.
