Stupid Raccoons knocking down Hummingbird feeder.

Was down in Lexington over the weekend visiting Daughter and Grandson. She said the raccoons had knocked down her feeder. I refilled it and put it back up. We came home yesterday evening. She just called said the raccoons struck again. Dang critters.

I hang the feeders on Shepard hooks. We live in the country where there are plenty of those critters around. Never had a problem..So far!

We have shepherds hooks and flower pots. Coons are getting both. We've put cones around the shaft on the shepherds hooks. It's the only thing that has worked so far!

We tried shepard's hooks and they kept the coons from knocking the bird feeders down. But, they still came around and ate the seeds that had fallen on the ground and crapped around the pool and in the yard. We finally gave up and took the bird feeders down for several weeks and the coons haven't been back. Now, the feeders are back up...we'll see how that works.

We are in the "took the feeders down for a while stage". Went out to walk the dogs a couple of days ago at 4am and the damn coon was crouched down on the deck railing "hiding". We live out of town on an acreage, so I though about pull the EDC and blowing it away, but we have neighbors close enough that I thought better of it. Tried a life trap. Not working. Might have to go buy a leg trap.

Easy to catch in Live traps. Can of tuna, just slightly open the can, set the trap and you'll catch all you want and more.
If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.

Hang them higher or in a pole. Have tons of Racoons here. Never get to the hummingbird feeders. Last year I trapped and relocated around 15 Racoons. Been feeding a male feral cat and he has been chasing them off at night. Not a cat person at all but starting to like this one.Peanut Butter is better bait. Tuna will also trap the cats.

Yes. I guarantee there's a lot more coons around peoples houses than they know.

They LOVE marshmallows. Toast one or two to get that smell and they will happily run into a live trap. Caught dozens of the masked marauders that way. The tuna? Yeah, they’ll go for it. So will skunks and cats.

All I ever used for bait was dry cat food that kept around for outside cat.

Put a thick coat of vaseline on the pole. get it on video.

If you want to live catch the raccoons, put marshmallows in the trap. Guaranteed catch.

If a live trap, use marshmallows. They love em. I've 5 with four trap sets. Tuna, cat food or anything like that you also catch cats, skunks, etc.

I was trying to live trap a skunk. Caught raccoons and possums every night. After the first one, I just released them in the yard as it seemed like an endless supply. Had to erect fencing around the skunk's hole to catch him. Even after erecting the fence I caught a raccoon before the skunk.

That will work, easy, quite inexpensive. They eat the leftover dry cat food here every night. My wife doesn't mind because she loves all animals.

Does have a can of tuna in there. I've caught a bunch of critters with the live trap, but this coon seems to be wise to it.
