    Another brake question.

On my 99’ ranger single axle. The passenger side started just leaking fluid while it was parked in garage. I’m assuming there is a crack somewhere but I can’t see it with just the wheel off. Def brake fluid and not hub lube. Has anyone delt with this issue? I’ve never worked on brakes so I am trying to get educated.

The most likely causes a split hose or cracked fitting. Also note that the metal brake line tubing is prone to rust and leak. It would be highly unlikely that the brake caliper itself would be leaking. It is possible that it is leaking past the piston seal, but not likely. it should not be hard to find the source of the leak.

Thank you. I’m going to dive into it some more and report back. It was a pretty decent amount of fluid.

Top off the Master Cylinder and have someone pump the brake, like bleeding them, while you are under the trailer with a flashlight and look for the leak.
