    7:3:1 ratio for me. I like getting it down fast, keeping it slamming on the bottom making a racket and kicking up mud. They KILL it at the main lake I fish at 90% of the time. I throw 6, 8 and 10XD all summer long. I have never used a lower ratio, just doesn't seem to make sense to me, but to each their own. If I don't want it as deep as it can go, I slow down the retrieve.

    I love throwing deep cranks. Its awesome when the rod loads up.

    If I deep crank these days for more than five minutes at a time the only equipment I will need is an arm and hand brace.

    I use a KastKing 7'-10" Mod/Med Speed Demon Pro with a Shimano Citica D (6.2:1 iirc). I throw 6XDs quite a bit, but nothing bigger. I get 10 more yards than the same setup with a 7'-4" glass Shimano SLX rod.
