I imagine an 18.5 footer with a 200 would be a pretty sporty boat.

People are wanting bigger and bigger boats with bigger motors. Bullet doesn't mass produce boats. They keep the hulls in the molds much longer than most. So they build what most prefer. They also like building boats with unlimited HP.... 20ft+ hulls.

To fast?
I had a 17 footer back in the 80 ‘s , I believe they also made a 19 for a couple of years
If they made an 18' boat rated for 150-175 in the same layout as the 22SF I'd be all over that.
The 22SF is just more boat than I need and likely way more money than I want to put in a boat.
Under 20 foot doesn't get much love from the industry
I don't understand this myself, but I am a little biased with an 18 and a half footer. There are so many good 19 footers out there and 18 footers are quite a bit less expensive.
Top end speed on a 18 footer with a 175 should be mid 60s, which is around the same top end the ranger guys get with 250s or anyone running a zuke get anyway.
Market…. Manufacturers don’t want to build something that only a few people want… Try to find a nice brand new plain single cab pickup truck that’s not some super duper platinum lariat special limited edition…
and I’m sure it has to do with more profit margin…. Surely there’s more profit in a boat that will sell for $100k versus one that will sell for $60k…pretty sure it doesn’t cost anywhere near $40k to build the bigger one. Probably only a couple thousand bucks more in bulk purchased materials….
These guys know what the market wants. I live in an area with small lakes and don't plan on fishing tournies. 18.5 is the biggest boat I want but I know I am in the minority.
there is no money in small boats the cost to go from a 17 to a 20 to 21 ft boat is minimal the only savings would be on the motor since all the other build parts are used on the bigger boats.
Bass Cat has mentioned several times that 18’ and under boats are just not what people want these days. The cost delta between an 18 footer with 175 and a 19’ with 200 is small enough most people elect to go with the larger rig. No sense in building a boat that few want.
