What is the deal with the Air Traffic control. Been a lot of near misses lately

Glad no one has been killed.

Lots and lots of traffic doesn’t help anything. Airspace is busier now than it’s ever been.

Well said. As a retired pilot I can tell you the ultimate responsibility for preventing runway incursions is on the Pilots. Control towers never crash and burn, so while ATC is an integral part of the system we typically treat instructions as good suggestions. The pilots themselves prevented a disaster recently and we managed ourselves when they went on strike 4 decades ago.

There's been a shortage of ATC's for decades, and meanwhile the workload has increased greatly. Trying to do more with less just doesn't make sense for some professions.

A VERY outdated system coupled with a severe lack of trained personnel. I have a neighbor that’s a controller and he is working all the time it seems.

People need to pull their heads out of their asses and pay attention to what’s happening. Make up all the excuses you want but it boils down to people doing (or not doing) their jobs.

Also have to look at the higher ups who put people in those positions. Some may not be qualified to perform at the level that's required to get the job done correctly but are placed in those positions just get positions filled.

I always found the term "near miss" to be inaccurate. It was definitely a "miss." It was a near collision.

Exactly. What is a near miss anyway? You either hit it or you miss it.
Maybe a close call but not a near miss.
