    2020 SHO, w/fury 25 or tempest 25, or?

    Greetings,
in my 06’ Champ 198, I’ve been working on engine height for best results.
    Yamaha SHO 225

my best at 3.5” is 68mph, at 5450 RPMs.

    holeshot is awesome.

but general response is that the rpm’s are way too low. I also have a “worked” (I don’t know what was worked) Tempest 25° also, the tempest holes don’t have any plugs in it. Would I need to put the plugs from the Fury into the Tempest? How does one change them?

    sorry for the newbie questions.

any idea what will change if I install the tempest? Or, do I need a 23 or 24° prop?

    thanks for your thoughts…

If you can’t turn a 25 Fury enough rpms then why bother with the Tempest. If everything is setup correctly you need to drop 2-3” of pitch.

The plugs are only for holeshot. I'm running all stock 250 SHO, my main prop is a 26 SHO T1, my back up is a 27 Tempest with plugs in. I can't tell you wot rpm on the Tempest as I've on run it a few times and the lake was very rough. Last run was 4000 rpm running 48 mph with the Tempest, very close to my SHO prop.

My questions, is your boat lifting is it loaded heavy, whats the engine PTP. If your boat isn't lifting you won't get rpm either, too much drag.

You might post on the Champion or setup page. I'll bet someone on one of those has your setup.

Run the 25 tempest as it is and see how it runs since you already have it. It will turn like a 24 Fury so it should bring the rpm up a few hundred from that alone. If the boat likes the way it lifts better you will get some more.
