    Amazing wood carvings.

This guy carves these out of basswood and hand paints them.

He's an artist that custom paints cars, motorcycles, etc. These are for his own personal collection. Very rarely will he sell one of his carvings according to the FB page where I saw these.

I was excited to be able to make a couple pine duck placques using a spindle sander in 8th grade wood shop. Another guy in the class hand craved out of mahogany his familes coat of arms in great detail. Took him 2 years and then someone stole it. Another guy was off the charts for a 10th grader. He made a cherry dry sink that he could have sold at any high end furniture store. I just saw that guy at work few weeks back. He built high end custom homes for 45 years . As a finished custom stair builder working on one of his homes was the high water mark in the trade. If you could work in his homes you officially had made the grade. When I lost my ability to work as a stair builder and ended up at a home depot store working I looked back and recalled that I could apply my trade in his homes. Was a double edged realization. Realized how far I came and how much I lost when I injured my back.

Both great but the talent to me is in the painting!
If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.

Dang, sorry to hear about the injury! Blows my mind when I see how artistically talented some folks are. Thank you for sharing your story!
