What portable battery charger do you use?

My Schumacher just bit the dust. What do you guys recommend? The reviews are all over the place as well as prices.

    Thanks,

What sort of battery are you trying to charge? Lead-Acid/AGM or a lithium as well?

Yep, I also have one. Sweet charger that can do everything, plus it’s very light and compact. It also has repair modes, in case a battery is severely depleted.

Along with the NOCO already mentioned, Schumacher makes a pretty solid portable charger. There are a lot of poorly built ones on Amazon, I'd stick with a name brand.

Oh, and 2 other Iota units that are 55 amp and 90 amp that have modules for any type of battery. They are not designed to be portable but work fine that way. I have both 12 and 24v units. Cj

Lead-Acid & AGM. I've always had Schumacher. They don't seem to get very good reviews anymore.

This. I've retired my old school chargers. They were good but the new technology ones are as close to set it and forget it as can be, plus the repair mode capabilities.

I have two of the newer Noco GBX units and love them. GBX75 in the truck and GBX155 in the boat. I have started 3 boats in the same day and didn't even use 25% of the GBX155. They are pricey however.....

I keep a Schumacher 2/8/50 boost "dumb" charger on hand, as the smart chargers won't begin charging a completely dead battery. I use a NOCO Genius and a Battery Tender Jr for the smaller SLA and lithiums. Have a BPS/Pro Mariner in the boat and an old Guest 3-bank 10/10/5 with a dead 5 amp circuit - added clamps so I can use it portable for my dual truck batteries.

My Schumacher is over 45 years old and never let me down yet, however I really don’t use it much.
