300 sized reel overkill for 6 inch magdraft style swimbaits?

I知 in need of a dedicated reel for my harness style swimbaits like the magdraft and cull shad. I値l be throwing it on a megabass P5 destroyer BMG rod. I own all daiwa but I知 not opposed to another brand. I just want the best reel for this specific setup. Skipping, target casting these baits. And maybe some open water.

I壇 appreciate any feedback from you all.

    thanks

    Kyle

Yeah 300 is overkill. I use a Daiwa Catalina TWS, '21 Zillion and E series Shimano 201.

I say over kill. I just got a tatula 150 that I plan on using for 2 oz deep diving cranks and will swap to a different rod for magdrafts.

300 is way overkill for 6" anything.

    this may help

Even the low profile Tatula? It’s a 300 size but it’s smaller than most

200 size is fine. Never had a issue all the way up to 9” swimbait

Get a 200 size with a larger spool diameter and more line capacity if possible.

I use a 2012 Shimano Antares, or a Daiwa Steez A depending on if I'm fishing more open water (Antares) or skipping laydowns or docks (Steez). I'd say the most important thing throwing bigger baits is torque and having a bigger reel handle to crank the fish back to the boat. There is an argument to using a 300 size reel with an 8-10 inch soft bait but that is personal preference.

Not sure the size (maybe around a 200) but i use a Lews BB1 Pro with the 7.1.1 gear ratio and have no problem skipping, casting, pitchn the 6 inch mag around. I got stubborn 1 trip out and did this for 7 straight hours and only caught 3 bass... but i wasn't physically tired just mentally

    150 or 200 is fine.
