    St Clair - boat ramps?

We took our first trip to St Clair last year. Stayed around St Clair Shores and put in at 9 Mile every day.

We're going again this year, and I just found out that 9 Mile is closed. I called the city and they said it would be closed most, if not the entire, season.

Here are the ramps I know of that are accessible to non-residents...

    St Jean (Detroit.. river)
Crocker (DNR, just above Harrison Township)
    Metro Park

Is there anything closer to 9 Mile? I was wondering if any marinas would let you launch there if you rent a slip from them for each night. I've called 4 so far and they all said "no" and didn't know anyone who did.

Blossom Heath is supposed to be open to non residents this year due to 9 mile being closed. It doesn't have as many parking spots as 9 mile, but it's an option.

That’s good to know, I didn’t realize they were going to open it up.

Keep in mind they have a lot of events at Blossom over the summer and through fall. Farmers market and such. When said events are taking place the ramp is closed to everybody due to limited parking. This mainly happens on weekends.

Also check with Jefferson Beach and Miller's marina. They used to allow launching, but I'm not sure they still do. Worth a phone call if you haven't already checked with them TNReb

Also the Blossom Heath ramp is deep inside the marina district down some long narrow canals that can get busy or even blocked

I got stuck once waiting for 45 minutes while a barge blocked the canal with some guys welding a seawall

All good to know thank you guys! I usually only launch there early in the year and then move north in summer.

When did that change? All I’ve heard is it’s still closed to non residents.

One of the attendants at 11 mile launch told me this last fall. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen.

Is 11 mile an option for nonresidents?

I used the new Crocker ramp yesterday for the first time. It was much better than I expected after reading some of the reviews. Weather was brutal on the hands in the morning. Guess there weren't many that wanted to deal with the cold wind. The parking lot was probably only 25% full.

I launched there last Monday and it was similar, the only thing I wish was the canal was wider come the summer months it’s going to get very congested.

You would also have to identify as a St. Clair Shores resident

I agree. The wind blowing and only three of us floating by the ramp wasn't bad, but more boats could have been interesting.
