Garmin software support for "old " units.

Hello, is anybody know how long Garmin supporting previous units? For example - Echomap Ultra gen2 is on market but Ultra gen1 is selling paralelly. How long Garmin will support firmware for 1 gen? Is any rules for this? 1, 2, 3 yr. after end of production?
    Thanks in advance.

Why would you need newer software? Do you mean like pre UHD? Garmin does not really go by Gens like HB.

It's not about new firmware, question is - how long Garmin supporting their product after end of production.

I'm guessing they stop updating firmware for discontinued models within a year or so. For example Garmin stopped making Echomap Plus models in 2020 and the last new update was June 18, 2021.

Garmin is still updating old and new models for UHD and Ultra.

Garmin tends to have your back with older units for a bit after they roll out new ones, but it's not set in stone. Usually, you can expect updates for a couple of years after they stop making a particular model. Your safest bet is keeping an eye on Garmin's official updates or hitting them up via email for the lowdown on the Echomap Ultra gen1.
