Hats off to the Oakland team. They came in and played above potential. What a dream come true for them.

Kentucky played below potential and if was not for the two older UK players would have been run out. Freshman nerves is the only thing that comes to my mind.

I'm still not sure how KY stayed in the game other the Reeve's shooting; they played so poorly. Could not get a long rebound, could not finish at the rim, stood around watching a team-mate dribble, let opponent take ball away from them, and of course gave up a ton of 3's. seems like almost an exact replay as the SEC game vs Texas A&M. None of this showed up late in the year in regular season so I have to believe it is emotional.

I was watching the commentators’ discussion before the game, and Barkley made the comment that Oakland needed to bring their best defense to contain Kentucky’s star shooters. His analysis of Kentucky was that they knew how to score but didn’t defend equally. Also that their youth might work against them. In a one-and-done tournament, the team with momentum gets an advantage. Armchair quarterbacking here, but if you have a young team, it’s easier in most cases for them to run hot and cold. KY was cold and stayed cold. Surprising with that level of talent.

Ky didn’t defend all year, their big men are a joke in terms of talent level. All they had was about 3 guys who could Jack up 3’s & the rest of those players were merely uniform fillers. Much better talent in state at the high school level than those so called Burger King players Cal loves so much.

Maybe KY should make an offer to the Oakland coach. He did a heck of a job for sure.

Buy Walmart stock, now. I'm thinking a lot of TV's got busted in the Bluegrass yesterday. When the crying is over, all will head to Walmart for new ones this weekend.

Shot of Reed Sheppard's dad in the stands, right before they went to the next game telecast, was brutal. Probably sitting there thinking "I let my kid go to THIS coach?!?!".

I don't think so. We don't rate him very high. His body of work prior to 2016 was pretty good. He is active in the state. I don't think most people who live in the state and follow the cats would say he is a great coach. I would say he is a great recruiter.
