    DIY cup holder

Sharing this in case someone like me doesn't have or want to spend 4-600 dollars for a "coin box" "center console" with additional cup holders. I removed my center seat as no one sits there plus it was torn. I looked at center consoles to have a cup holder for my GF or other passengers. The passenger side cup holder gets blocked when rods are in that rod holder. I just couldn't eat 4-600 dollars for the project. After some searching of the internet I found some ideas I liked and got to work in my shop. I removed the gas tank vent behind the seat, strip, prime, paint and added a domed Triton sticker from Great Lakes Skipper. I made the cup holder from flat plate aluminum I had laying around from previous projects, while its not perfect like a CNC machine would produce, I have zero dollars in it except the 1/4 x 20 stainless fasteners. I have other pictures if that interests anyone, but here is basically the highlights and finished product.

I looked at those, didn't meet the standard. The ones I like are much more expensive, I couldn't justify it.

Trip hazard is one of my concerns, however with the seat being there previously I don't have a habit of stepping there, so I guess time will tell. I have polished them smooth, done to 320 grit to minimize the scraping opportunity. If I find its a hazard, easily removed, it's not attached permanently.
