    Sliders

I'm pretty sure that the slider heads and worms are still around but I haven't heard much about them of late. Wondering if there are those that still use them with good effect. I was wondering if the ned rig has pretty much replaced it but I would think that it would be a good FFR bait when the fish want something that isn't shaking violently.

I've used a slider with a 4 inch power worm for years and when the bite is tuff it still works great.

Still going strong. Got a FB page and all. They were real popular around here in the 70s/80s when I got started. Dealer told me the Zoom finesse worm hurt the Slider a little, but Slider a much better worm. I really like the 5in and the bass paddle tails.

I use a Slider head with a 4" Cuttail and a 3" Slider grub (white/chart tail) on a 1/8 oz ball head all the time...that little grub is a killer river smallie bait.

So simple. Cast, reel, catch , repeat. Can cover every level of the water column with the slider worm and their jig heads.

Is the prevalent technique with these still the "do nothing"?

My absolute go to when the bite is tough. I use a shad shape worm on a slider jig head. Kind of like a ned, but you get the spiral fall of a tube with a baitfish profile.

I always just fish them like a worm. Then I bought the book last year. The OG way of fishing them was just with a steady, slow reel. I remember one old time guy that fished in our club that did well, remember him talking about fishing it like that and never clicked for me until reading the book.

PS I still have the book if anyone's interested.

Charlie Brewer's Slider is still alive & well. I've been using them since the 80's. Slider fishing is more than just a technique, it's a philosophy of natural presentation. Charlie had multiple retrieval methods, but none were erratic retrieves. The book, "Charlie Brewer on Slider fishing", should be considered a "must read" for any finesse fisherman.

Nope, the ned rig is good but it is not really the same type of presentation. The Slider is a true "do-nothing" finesse technique that can be fished at all different depths and it is still very productive.

Haven't used them in years, still have them some where.
i used them quite often one year and was shocked at how well they worked.
i could only cover maybe 50-100 yards in an evening.
But I found that bass could be caught in almost any stretch of shoreline that long.
