    LU gear lube question

    2015 merc 250 pro xs
    2B115737

I changed the LU gear lube a couple days ago and as it dripped from the lower drain hole into the pan, I can see some golden silvery dust flowing down (seen in pictures, but more brighter color in person than in picture). It consistently drained like that til almost empty. I didnt see too much of the milky residue however. Should I be concerned? TIA!!

Forgot one more question: Is the drained lube suppose to be same amount as the new quart?

I took it a marina to change the gear lube every year since I bought the boat 3yrs ago. I did noticed a little drip on the floor after last years change. I didn't take it in this past fall thinking maybe they did crap job so I changed it myself this year and seems like the drain screw wasnt tight enough from when the marina did , I just lightly turned the flat head screw driver and it turned open quickly.

NO, because gearcases seldom require "precisely 1 quart". And there are variances between the same part number case, simply due to casting and shimming differences.
