Local news just had a story of a guy in KY that won 150 thousand on a scratch off in Louisville I think it was. He got 108 thousand after taxes. 42 thousand taxes on 150 thousand. That is outrageous.

The voluntary tax strikes again.
But someone, somewhere in another country that hates us needs that money more than he does.
Wait, isn’t that about the same as what our earnings are actually taxed at. Federal, State, sales, real estate etc. Then taxed again as you begin to use your own savings as you get older. Then when you do pull some of your own money out to live on, your “income” went up so benefits fall and taxes on Medicare etc rise.
Why are you just now being offended?

Those who don't like the tax rate can feel free to send me any possible winning tickets & I'll deal with it. If you send me a winner over 100 k, I will take you fishing. FFS or no FFS, your choice ! You would just have to put up with riding in a " slow" Ranger ! Heck , wear your jersey if you want !
We're lucky in Canada we don't pay tax on lottery wins.....now if I could just win a lottery.
28%...sounds about right. Are you guys paying less than that? I know I'm not.
Don’t know what Kentucky spends the money on but it sure ain’t roads.
