Looking for the proper SSR hub kit for a new Tempest Plus Prop.
Do they really need to be torqued to 100ft. lbs? Sure seems like a lot?

The SSR hubs for 1" shafts. The Mercury and Quicksilver versions are the exact same. Seems they are now priced exactly the same too where as you used to be able to buy the Quicksilver version a little cheaper. Yes they torque to 100ftlbs and yes that is a lot but it works. Don Weed advises for a 3-blade prop to split the torques into thirds and rotating as you work up. So pin one of the blades against the anti-vent plate with a piece of 2x4, torque to 33ftlbs, rotate the prop to the next blade and torque to 67ftlbs, rotate to the last and torque to 100.
