Time to service the old motor. I might actually get to use it this year. I have all the stuff on order. Serpentine belt, new spark plugs, new water filter, going to clean the strainer and then I get the lovely task of pulling the lower unit and replacing the water impellar. I know silverfox sticky says to be in neutral. Mind you, I have done this job 1 time and it was like 2-3 years ago (I know, I know, I waited too long). I have a faint memory of struggling to get the lower put back on the unit and had to put it in gear to get it slide back in. Am I making stuff up in my head or do some people put it in gear to get the lower back on? I know the mechanic who told me to do this also showed me a way of ensuring that forward and reverse were not flipped. I am going to try the neutral way first, but I am already dreading put the lower unit back on because I remember how much of a pain it was the first and only time I did this job.
