Fishing Rod Retaining Straps in Rod Locker

Does anyone know where a person can buy replacement rubber straps that go in the Triton Rod lockers that help hold the rod handles in the cradles? All but one in my 2004 TR196 has now broken. Not sure they are that necessary and the rods seem to remain in place fairly well, but I'd like to replace them if possible. I have never seen any for sell.

If yours is similar to the triton rod rack on Great Lakes Skipper….Looks like you could just drill out the fastener on each end & use bungee cord as a replacement.

Yes, it looks exactly like the ones on Great Lakes Skipper. But there are no fasteners to drill out. It's actaully rubber straps that go through the holes in the black plastic, then there are brass grommets that are crimped onto the ends of the black rubber straps to hold them in place. If you look close to the Great Lakes Skipper photo's, you will see what I am saying. All I need is new rubber pieces and the brass grommets to fix mine. I guess short bungee cords might work too as suggested, but i'm not sure I have ever seen any that short.

Purchase the same thickness bungee cord on amazon…..then cut it to length (I cut it by burning & twisting it simultaneously). It comes in a wide variety of diameters and colors ….. and is cheap. You could just tie overhand knots on the back side….no-one will ever see them.

Yeah, but that's not the straps I am referring to. I'm talking about the ones that came with the boat and are located down in side the rod locker that hold the butt end of the rods.

Yours must be different than mine The straps inside my rod locker do not have screws. They are round rubber straps that go through the holes on each side of the rod cradles, then get crimped with brass fittings to keep them in place behind the rod cradles. There are no screws.

Update...........I purchased a length of the bungee cord on Amazon as you suggested, cut pieces to length, installed them and tied knots on the backside as mentioned. Perfect fix and looks great !! Thanks again for your suggestion. This worked out perfectly and I actually like that bungee material better than the original rubber straps.
