Will a renegade 25P 4 blade work on ETEC 200HO

    Folks,
    Will a Renegade 25P 4 blade work well on 1999 Ranger 518DVX with 2011 ETEC 200HO?
I'm running a Trophy plus 25 4 blades, with exhaust ring on end of prop and all holes plugged now, and it wants to blow out just as it gets on plane. Doesn't do it all the time only when I try to get on plane fast.
    Any other recommendations?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I ran one with an exhaust ring on my 2004 Stratos with a 200 HO and it ran fine. Decent hole shot and 72 mph.

IMHO... They are too small in diameter for today's big block motors, bigger, heavier bass boats and loads we carry.

    Mike,
What, if anything, can I do to my trophy plus to stop the blow out, just as the Ranger gets on plane? I have all holes plugged solid and an exhaust ring on the front of the prop? Can I only open one plug at a time, or do you have to open opposite sides equally?
I guess I'll keep trying to mess with plugs.
    Looking forward to your response.

Your big block and gear ratio has a lot of low end torque. It's common for this to happen at breakover when you are running raised motor heights. Opening vents will only magnify the issue. I suggest that you just get used to feathering the throttle for a couple seconds as the boat breaks over. Or get a larger diameter prop like a Bravo1 XS or Marks Razor4 XL.

    Should I stay with a 25P?

Depends on your rpms and what prop you buy.

If I buy your Marks Razor4 XL. should I stay with a 25P or move up to a 26P?
Right now I'm getting 5600 RPM at WOT with the trophy plus 25P 4blade with exhaust ring on prop.

    Thanks again,
    Dave

Marks props have nothing to do with me... I live 7hrs from Marks shop and have never been there. Mark will exchange props until you get the rpms that you need/want. You want to be near the rev limiter with a light load and cool temps.

    [QUOTE=518DMK;13381265]Folks,

    Thanks for the responses, guys.
I'm getting about 5500 -5600 RPM's at WOT at 63mph. I'm OK with the speed it's just the blow out just after it gets on plane that's bugging me. I have the plastic ring on the prop itself not inside the lower unit. I am wondering if there is a thrust washer that is slightly smaller than the original one that comes with the Evinrude hub insert, that may push the prop more tightly into the lower unit, because there is a slight gap from the end of the prop to the lower unit that maybe causing this problem?

    Thanks,
    Dave

have you pulled your ptp number? may be a smidge too high. my basscat did that and 1/4-1/5 drop cured it totally

Seems common with etecs/magnums. My 250 with a 26 raker would blow out at break over but not to the point you had to lift off the throttle . Like Mike said Larger diameter would help.

Just a follow up. I installed a grass ring inside the lower unit and also have the exhaust ring on the trophy plus 25 prop. I had to shave a bit of the inside of grass ring so it wouldn't rub the exhaust ring on the prop and that solved the problem. It gets on plane almost instantly and no blow out afterwards.
    Thanks for all the comments.

    Take care,
    Dave
