2018 Triton 18tx bottom hull welded angle bar at transom

Recently purchased the above triton with a small lowrance hook depth finder at the console. I purchased a garmin echomap 73sv to accompany the lowrance at the console. Once I determined the location on the transom where I wanted to mount the transducer, I noticed an piece of angle bar abt 4" long welded to the bottom of the hull just fwd of the transom. This angle is on both the port and stbd side. Anyone know the purpose of this angle bar?

This is to help reduce or eliminate porpoising. They are commonly referred to as “trim tabs”.
These were not on the 2013 - 2014 year models and if you trimmed over 25% on the gauge the boat would start porpoising.

Yep, when you stern load a tin boat (gas, batteries, and accessories), tabs are essential.

Probably not a good location to install a transducer. Lol
