A little while back I signed up with a group of coworkers to do a Polar Plunge on March 1st to support the Special Olympics of Minnesota programs. My girlfriend drives school bus and one of her extra routes is driving the Cognitive and Physically Impaired Sports Teams for one of the local high schools. Some of the students she drives back and forth for games participate in the Special Olympics, so I figured this was a good cause that hits close to home for us.
I organized a little skills challenge game trio over lunch and had people pay 5 bucks to enter each game. We had a take on Beer Pong with points assigned to each cup, we had Cornhole (bean bag toss), and we had a Putting challenge. I donated gift cards for first and second place for each game, and in an hour we raised 316 bucks for a pretty cool cause. We are a pretty small office right now so to raise that much over lunch was pretty cool.
My girlfriend's daughter volunteered to help with the games and she also pledged to join our Plunge Team. She set up all of the games and kept track of the scores for two of them. Then she helped clean up all the games after we finished up. She also got second place on Beer Pong and said "when I am old enough I am gonna get a lot of people drunk at parties with this game." She definitely know the art of smack talk, LOL.
Fun little break up to the last day of the week. Enjoy your weekend y'all.
