"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments

I thought this was the saddest song that I ever heard when I was a kid.

The saddest song I remember as a kid was “Old Shep”. Don’t know how to post a link or I’d look it up for y’all.

That song and "He stopped loving her today" always make me cry. At 67 my "someday" feels pretty close.

Thanks for the Shep link D.O.C.! The first time I heard that song, I was 7 or 8 years old, my dad was sitting around playing the guitar and sang it and I ran outside crying. Saddest thing I’d ever heard!
