    NMEA gps antennas across brands?

It's the holiday season, so here is one of my wishes this year...

Is there a way to use a Lowrance Point-1 antenna on a Garmin nmea network
or Garmin GPS 24xd antenna on a Lowrance nmea network?

The NMEA from Lowrance will work with Garmin.

If You put P-1 into Garmin N2k network, You can't calibrate it like in Lowrance, it's need forced calibration: stright, steady run on water after N2K power on

So...being universal, can I also assume the Garmin GPS 24xd will also work on a Lowrance network?
I am starting to plan my migration to Garmin...
