    Mobile, Al trip

So i'm headed to "The Grounds" in June from Pittsburgh for the Kid Rock concert but have never been there before.

does anyone have any tips on what it's like at the Grounds for a concert, and some decent places to stay in the area? We might do some sight-seeing as well. We like Civil War history, distilleries, fishing (tho not sure if we'll have time)

We might even take a sight-seeing tour on the way there, probably going thru Kentucky and Tennessee

Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa is very nice.
The original oyster house if you like seafood.
    USS Alabama and USS Drum.
For the best Dreamland ribs, eat at the original in Tuscaloosa.
Fort Morgan is about 90 minutes away.
Lamberts if you like country cooking.

    On the Oyster House!

Definitely tour the Alabama. The Drum was closed for repair when I was there. There’s also a great aviation museum right there. They had a SR-71 Blackbird, as well as lots of WWII fighters.

I have no idea how far away it is from the concert venue but The Grand hotel is a great place to stay down there.

It’s a cool drive out to Dauphin Island. I would go out there. We also took the tour of the USS Alabama Battleship and Submarine. I thought it cool to see. Here is the link to it:

The Grounds has a large amount of parking although some walking will be involved.

The Gulf State Fair, Gun Shows, and other well attended events are held at this location.

Remember it is hot and humid here in the summer so stay hydrated.

If you like salt water fishing the local guides at Dauphin Island and Orange Beach can definitely put you on some fish.

The Grounds location is in west Mobile about 2-3 miles from the Airport.

Got married on the USS Alabama a must see. The Mobile bay lighthouse is cool if you want an evening cruise. Lulu's in Gulf Shores for seafood (Jimmy Buffett's sister's place). For golf the Trent Jones courses in Mobile are awesome.

If you like civil war history, they do tours of Ft Morgan which are quite interesting to learn about the history and involvement in the civil war. Surf fishing at Ft Morgan is also great that time of year.

Pensacola is an hour away. Go to the National Naval Air Museum. My favorite place to visit when I am near.

It's like every other southern city, really any city, just stay out of certain areas at certain times and use common sense.... you'll be fine. If I were you I'd stay across the bay towards Gulf Shores (very nice) and commute back and forth.

Fort Morgan is a must see if you like civil war stuff. Go South to Dauphin Island and there is a small Fort there then take the ferry across Mobile Bay to Fort Morgan.
