    Chevy mechanics step in!

    2016 Silverado 5.3 140k
Got in my truck this morning noticed fuel gauge not working. Went and topped if off just to be sure that there was gas. Made a couple stops and then it kicked into reduce power mode and check engine light was on. Possible fuel pump problem? Would that put it in reduced power mode?

Chassie control module, powers the fuel pump. 2017 in the shop now and the part is on back order with no stock at GM as of this morning. Called 5 dealers showing 1 in stock all held for customers. Check for codes, check for corrosion at the module, check the ground, and follow the diagnostic flow chart.

I have head of some corrosion issues at the Bulkhead connector at the cab I believe. The truck has two fuel pumps. The low pressure in tank pump and a camshaft lobe driven high pressure pump since its direct injection

It’s throwing a PO453 code says it’s Evaporative Emission System Pressure Sensor/Switch High. It says this will cause a check engine light to come on but shouldn’t cause a reduced power mode.

GM has had fuel gauge problems since at least 2000.

Not just soy flavored, actually soy in the insulation. A well known tractor manufacturer uses the same crap and has problems with critters gnawing on their harnesses . I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, common sense is out the window when it comes to engineers! There wouldn’t be a tv show called Engineering Disasters if engineers were all truly brilliant!
