A performance question

Have a 2018 2 stroke Z19… watched a guy take out the same rig… we chatted a few minutes… he had a flat jplate setting and a 3 bladed Fury… claims he has kissed 74mph more than once.
That seems amazing.
Can anyone explain this excellent top end since I have been reading the 3 bladed 24 Fury is the best hull match!

Sounds like BS to me, most guys report high 60's-70 as a max speed.

I kissed 70 the first time I took the boat out. I only had a quarter tank of gas and all the compartments were empty, no fishing gear. After loading the boat with all my crap I can barely hit 65. It's even slower if I have water in the livewells and the cooler full of ice.

I have had a few 200hp and none stock could bust 70mph….
wondered how a higher pitch lower on the plate could be faster…

Did he state GPS or guage speed. My 518c gets 72 on GPS and at times shows 77 on the guage. Maybe my GPS is off(?).

I gave up speed enhancements BUT could use advice on Z19 with Fury 24… my first ever…
as far as jplate “above even distance”…
for full tackle load and at least 30 gals fuel with 215# driver…
