If you had to pick one stock prop that was least likely to throw a blade what would it be?? Also how many of you feel that sending a prop out for a custom B&B work makes the prop more likely to fail?

Many worked props are thinned and that probably causes some flexing. Any metal that is manipulated could very well be more prone to break

LOLOLOL. Find the best prop for your boat. Throwing a blade depends on how fast the boat is also.
After speaking with two prop shops that I hold in High regard, they both have told me straight up there are a few props that are highly prone to fail. One such prop for example would be a Fury 4. I was told it would not matter how high or low or how fast or slow I ran it I should expect a Fury 4 to fail.
In general I would say based on props I have owned and props I helped change that have failed they were always a 4 blade regardless of brand or model. The one prop I never saw throw a blade was a Tempest plus. Do 3 blades in general have thicker blades when stock?
Not a Plus but I threw a blade on a 27 P Tempest. It was on a 225 Pro Max 2.5 Mercury. Boat was an Allison XB 2003.
Prop was a 3 blade.

Never thrown a blade. Threw a piston in august. I’ll take a thrown blade over that.

My understanding is that most blades get thrown when the motor is high enough to have one blade breaking the water. The impact from the blade coming back into the water weakens it.

I did it to bravo the blades are thinner but its from flex a bass boat does alot of out the hole shots everyday and that weakens the prop takes a toll on a thinner blade prop
Up till two weeks ago, I would agree with you on the Tempest Plus. Unfortunately I just threw a blade on my 24P Tempest Plus. I lost about a third of one blade and no there was not an impact. This prop was B&B'd by Mark at the start of the spring. I've been running Tempest props for many years, first one to make it to the door stop graveyard.
About 6 years ago I threw a blade on two different Temptest Plus props. Both within 3 months. Have never thrown a blade on any other prop.
