There’s a post in the lounge talking about their different locations. I’ve heard they are sitting on a lot of inventory and having trouble selling boats. Seems like a lot of boat dealers are seeing slower sales due to the high interest rates.

I believe they closed the doors at all 3 locations.

Off topic just a bit but I called Pro's Choice Marine today to ask about what they are seeing with financing options. 8.99% with 800 credit was enough to slow my roll. I may bite the bullet after first of the year. I figure prices are gonna fall more and more. I definitely hate hearing about dealers going out of business....that's not good for anyone.

I like the caymas boats but am a little worried about the brand being around long term? Can they stand the slow down in the economy?

Earl Bentz has been in the bass boat design and manufacturing business since the early 70s. I think he's a pretty savvy businessman.

The Saltwater stuff is still busy for that plant and if you think Earl has all his eggs in the Caymas basket to survive you be way wrong. They just built that huge plant and expanded it, I doubt they will go anywhere.

Staying open. That owner got out a year or so ago from what I recall.

He is a savvy businessman. If you look at his history he starts a brand and builds it up to sell off. I assume the same thing will happen with Caymas

Isn’t that what Rick Pierce did with BassCat?

That’s what I wondered. A good dealer is very important for sure.

No. His dad started the business. Rick took it over and owned it for years. Sold it to Correct Craft to give the brand and his workers a future. So no, not the same.

I’m not saying what he has done is a bad thing at all. He’s started some great brands and made himself a load of wealth doing it. I’m not going to look down on a man for that

Rodney, if Earl sells out I hope it is to Bass Cat, they could make a 22 foot Caymas Cat that would run 90 mph with a 400 on the back., it would be awesome. I doubt Earl sells out to anybody but the employees of Caymas, that is just my wild guess.

Would not be surprised one bit if that happened. He has a group of top-notch employees around him who are professionals and family.
