Neoprene or non-mesh rod sleeve options

Currently have a bunch of the mesh style rod sleeves from Coles and I'm considering a change to the Neoprene style or some other sort of non-snag style sleeve. What do you like and why? What board sponsors carry / make them? Also, does Coles still exist (unable to find any contact info for them)?

Check out Rod Warrior, they make a good neoprene rod cover and offer custom printing on the covers.

Just my opinion but I started changing over to neoprene with 6th sense and TW sleeves. I find that I am gravitating back toward using my mesh style ones. Just too heavy and needing two hands to put them on is what I decided.

I still have some old Stor's it rod covers. I really liked them but I don't think they are in business any more, I won't use mesh and haven't tried any of the newer neoprene covers.

I have the 6th sense ones. They are a bit pricey when buying for 15+ rods but are entirely worth it.

Seriously, is it that hard to get a snagged hook out of the mesh ones? Been pretty easy for me (if it even gets snagged), and that is the biggest pro for the neoprene ones (though I question how much damage occurs when neoprene gets snagged). Cost is another factor, I can get the mesh ones from Alibaba for under $2(cheaper than I can make them myself here).

+1 against neoprene. They are quite heavy in comparison so the tip droops a lot in travel if not supported. I also had a tip bump break that was definitely my fault, but the sleeve was a massive contributing factor to the breakage as well. It applied force back against the tip when snagged on something in the front with an insanely light touch. Don’t get me wrong, it’s my fault but I don’t think the break would have occurred with a mesh sleeve.

Neoprene rod sleeves offer the best rod protection when traveling but are heavy and bulky and a pain to deal with in a tournament. I use them for traveling but remove them before I launch. Some of my favorites were rip stop nylon that came with some Falcon rods back in the 90s.

I think the biggest risk to rods when transporting is scratching, which BOTH will adequately protect against. Neither will protect against breaking or getting crushed.

Has anyone tried the Buzbe rod sleeves? Can’t tell if they’re made with neoprene

+1 Also, the 6th Sense one I have has very weak stitching and after only using it a couple times the rod tip started coming out the side of the sleeve since some of the stitching broke. Not a huge deal, but another reason I went back to using the mesh ones.

Love for casting rods the Rod Glove ones. They hug your rod and keep it protected from anything. The only downside is it doesn’t have anything like a loop to put on your reel to keep it there. Even so, they grip the guides and it takes a lot to fall off the rod. I barely even notice.
